On Monday evening, October 19th, Station 27 (B Platoon) along with mutual aid companies were dispatched to the 500 block of Arch St. for a building fire. AC27 arrived on location and reported smoke showing from the eaves of a 2 1/2 story twin. QT27 layed in and stretched the initial attack line to the 3rd floor. E27 and QT27 crews were met with a light smoke condition on the 3rd floor and fire evident behind the electrical outlets in the knee walls. The walls were opened which exposed a significant amount of fire. Extensive overhaul was required to ensure that the fire was completely extinguished and extension was limited. All first alarm companies were placed in service and the initial cover companies were requested to the scene to assist with manpower. Companies that responded and arrived on scene included Engine 56 (Upper Merion), Engine 32 (Goodwill), Ladder 43 (Plymouth), Quint 61 (Norriton), Quint 35 (Conshohocken), Tower 53 (Lower Providence), Squad 44 (Harmonville), Ladder 24 (Gladwyne) and Medic 308 (Plymouth Ambulance).
