Early into the afternoon on June 10th Engine 27 was dispatched on the working fire assignment to assist Lower Providence on the 4000 block of Cardin Place. Given the unique police situation occurring at that location, all units were initially staged at Station 53A. As soon as it was safe, units responded to the scene to initiate a fire attack. Crews encountered a large volume of fire in at least 3 townhomes. Engine 27 and Assistant 27 were originally assigned to assist Engine 93 and Tower 99 with water supply, and crew members manned one of the portable master streams. The Engine crew eventually made entry into the Bravo side exposure to check for any fire extension and overhaul. The fire eventually went to 3 alarms with multiple units from both Montgomery and Chester County. Engine 27 operated for approximately 3 hours before being released by command. Back in town, Ladder 25 (Merion Fire Company of Ardmore) and Engine 24 (Gladwyne Fire Company) provided coverage along with Quint 27.
