Around 2:30PM on Monday, August 5, Station 27 (B Platoon) and surrounding municipalities were dispatched to the 300 block of E. Airy St. for a dwelling fire. Shortly after dispatch, Chief 27 arrived on location and reported smoke showing. This brought additional units to the scene as part of the working fire dispatch procedure. Due to the structural instability of the building, a defensive approach was utilized to fight the fire. Additional units were called to assist with manpower as a result of the summer heat. One Firefighter sustained a minor injury during the incident, and was evaluated on scene by EMS. Crews remained on location for approximately 4 hours. Thank you to all agencies who assisted at the scene and who covered the rest of the municipality during the incident.
