During the early afternoon hours of Monday, November 2nd, Station 27 (A Platoon) was dispatched to the 700 block of Kohn St. for a dwelling fire. Multiple callers were reported fire in an abandoned building in the middle of a row. With smoke showing from several blocks out, AC27 requested the working fire dispatch. An aggressive interior attack was conducted by first in units, however, with the advanced fire conditions and fire in the cockloft of multiple buildings, crews were evacuated from the buildings. Units transitioned to an exterior defensive operation with multiple master streams placed in service. The fire ultimately went to 3 alarms bringing multiple mutual aid companies into Norristown to assist at the fire scene and to stand-by to cover any additional calls in town.
